“This music not only swings, rocks, and grooves–it matters. It’s the voice of a real community, with a sound and a message the world needs to hear.”
The Water Festival came to life in 2006 as a celebratory call to action. At these free events, water leaders are invited to speak, facilitate workshops, and set up booths and tables while notable musicians and elected leaders come together in a community-building effort to raise awareness about local and global water issues. This has been a rare and effective opportunity for water groups to connect with one another and with the public in a festival atmosphere that is free of charge. Water Festival events have taken place in Mackinaw City, Marquette, Traverse City, and Kalamazoo and have become independently organized annual events in Benzie County, Mount Pleasant, and Grand Rapids.
