Balm for the soul

Heavy Hand Rag

Got those heavy hands laid all upon my brow
Can’t you see it now?
I’m taking it on, it’s taking me out
The city is sinking with me
I can breathe I ain’t gonna let it drown me
Sing it into the mouth of the Mississippi

Got those heavy hand oil can blues watching the news
With the needles and pins
My eyes wide open they can come on in
I’m taking it on it’s taking me down
Got my feet underneath me
Take these blues downstream and shout and
Sing it into the mouth of the Mississippi

Got those dark cloud flag shroud blues watching the news
Yes, it’s a great melting pot
But when you boil it down all the scum rises up to the top
I’m taking it on, it’s taking me out
Got my feet underneath me
If I swallow it down it’ll give me cancer
So I sing it into the mouth of the Mississippi River
