Balm for the soul

Seeding the Clouds

Overstimulation, lack of motivation,
Expectations and inspiration
These are the parasites of my generation
And I see a whole lot of young people
Doing, doing what think they’re supposed to do (maybe the opposite)
But they’ve forgotten how to be and see
And I see kids I went to preschool with
Letting the media guide their lives
Without ever stopping to think twice

Born into a culture of entertainment addicts
Our lives have become unconsciously cinematic
But being true to yourself is better than life on MTV (believe me)
And don’t get me wrong, I like to watch MTV sometimes
But they don’t really care about what’s best for you and me
No, they just want our money

And maybe someday we’ll see the truth, we’ll see the truth

You say your glass is half empty
I say who gave you a glass in the first place – is it not a gift?
And don’t get me wrong again, I’m not asking for everyone to walk around with a false grin on their face
I’m just asking for an ounce of perspective in this place
And you say there’s only so much one person can do, that’s true
No one can do everything but everyone can do something

And maybe someday we’ll see the truth, the truth will rise above

Rise above our faint notions of
Right and wrong, good and bad, happy and sad
Rise above our faint notions of
Success, stability, and the way things are supposed to be
Joy comes through pain
Tears become rain
Tears become rain

Desensitization, alienation, miseducation, lack of concentration, fear of humiliation
Blind imitation, every imaginable type of separation and segregation
These are some of the parasites of our nation
And if you hear my song and you see what’s wrong and you know that it’s gone on for way too long
Get up, make a change, it’s not too late.

And maybe some-(no, nuh uh) maybe today
Today, we’ll see the truth
The truth will rise above

If we could just sit still, the truth will rise above

Joy comes through pain
Tears become rain

Tears become rain

Offer your prayers in the sky
Offer your seed to the clouds
